2009 Honda Accord Euro: Australian pricing and specifications
June 23rd 2008 07:30
Honda Australia has revealed the pricing and specifications of the new generation Honda Accord Euro.
Available in three models - Euro, Euro Luxury and Luxury Navigation - the popular mid-sized sedan is competitively priced at $32,990 for the entry-level Euro with a six-speed manual transmission, $39,990 for the six-speed Luxury and $42,990 for the six-speed Luxury navigation. The five-speed automatic transmission is a $2,000 option on all three models.
The 2.4-litre i-VTEC engine now develops 148 kW (up 8 kW on its predecessor) and 234 Nm (230 Nm for the automatic) while performance and handling have been further improved by an all-new front double wishbone and rear multi-link suspension, wider track, lower centre of gravity and higher levels of body rigidity.
The five-speed automatic Euro features optional paddle shifting in "Drive" mode. The paddles are mounted on the back of the leather-trimmed steering wheel 'F1-style' so the driver's hands never have to leave the steering wheel.
The new Accord Euro boasts evolutionary styling changes such as muscular wheel arches, distinctive shield like grille, lower and wider stance etc while retaining the basic shape which made the previous generation Accord Euro such a huge success here in Australia and abroad.
The interior is a stylish affair with a good choice and quality of materials, plush and supportive leather seats (Luxury/Luxury Navigation only), dual-zone climate control, intelligent cruise control, 'floating' back lit information displays, and an iPod/MP3-ready premium sound system with 6CD changer and no fewer than 10 speakers.
Dual exhausts, and rain-sensing wipers are standard across all three models while the Luxury and Luxury Navigation gains an electric sunroof, HID xenon lights (low beams only) and 18-inch alloy wheels (17-inch for Euro) as standard. The Luxury Navigation is the only model that gets satellite navigation and rear-view cameras.
The Accord Euro is available in a choice of six colours: Cobalt Blue, Crystal Black, Premium White, Volcano Grey, Buran Silver, and Milano Red.
A diesel variant is likely to arrive before the year's end while Honda Australia has also revealed that they have no plans to import the Touring (station-wagon) version.
