Hot on the heels of the 2011 Holden Commodore VE Series II launch last month, Australia’s high performance car manufacturer Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) has launched its new E Series 3, featuring a host of Australian production car firsts, and interior upgrades to the HSV range.

The E Series 3 update focuses on technical and interior upgrades including HSV’s new Enhanced Driver Interface (EDI), which streams vehicle performance data directly to the new touch screen display.

Other unique features specific to the HSV E Series 3 includes reverse camera with rear park assist, sat-nav and touchscreen radio with iPod connectivity as standard.

The update range's engine line-up remains largely unchanged with only the Grange getting more power (325 kW) while the entry-level ClubSport R8 sedan and wagon and Maloo R8 ute stick with the 317 kW version of the Corvette-sourced 6.2-litre V8.

All models in the HSV family except for the ClubSport R8 Tourer are now available with a Liquid Propane Injection (LPI) system (an extra $5990 and not available for the Clubsport R8 Tourer) that allows the engine to operate on both LPG and regular unleaded petrol.

HSV has added a significant set of unique interior updates to the E Series 3, including:

- New ‘Oracle’ dash

- New model specific stainless steel ID plate on the centre console

- New twin-stitch seat trims on GTS and Senator Signature, as well as a new leather colour in Turismo Rosso.

- New binnacle gauges

- Piano black trim on the centre console and steering wheel

HSV’s Managing Director, Phil Harding, believes the new E3 range has reached a new level of sophistication and continues the company’s long history of innovation.

“Our E3 range is an example of HSV’s passion for innovation, and determination to bring world leading technology to vehicles,” he said.

“You only have to look at EDI, LPI, and SBZA to know HSV is passionate about creating and building great all-round performance cars.

“More and more of our customers are showing greater interest in new technology, and have expressed a desire for unique points of difference in their vehicles.

“The combination of new technologies, stylish interior improvements, and a continued focus on all-round performance further strengthens HSV’s position as the ultimate in Australian-made performance cars.”
he added.

HSV’s new E Series 3 will arrive in showrooms at the end of this month.
