Continental's ContiSeal self-repairing tyre

The release of Continental's new self-repairing tyre in June/July this year has the potential to revolutionise the tyre industry.
The Continental ContiSeal tyre contains a tacky, viscous coating that will flow and cover seal any punctures as soon as they occur thus repairing itself in the event of a puncture. How's that different from the run-flat tyres that are fitted as standard on many BMW's these days, I hear you say?
The difference with run-flats is that the sealant in ContiSeal tyres permanently repairs any punctures on the tyre unlike run-flats which are essentially a stop-gap measure until you are able to replace it. The ContiSeal's will not have a 80 km/h limit in the event of a puncture and will not require the car that the tyres are fitted on to have tyre pressure monitoring systems.
While doubts have been raised over the strength and rigidity of the tyre after say 3-4 repairs, the German-based tyre company remains unfazed and will push ahead with the launch in the northern summer.
