Corvette ZR1 does 330 km/h

The Corvette Development Engineering team recently took the new ZR1 supercar to the test track in Germany for one simple exercise - to see just how fast it could go.

Two very brave test-drivers were in charge of putting the ZR1 through its paces and the sheer speed of which the new Corvette is capable of was just mind-numbing to say the least.

And the result? Does 330 km/h sound fast enough for you?

With at least 462kW (620hp) and approximately 823Nm of torque (595 lb.-ft.) on tap from its all-new LS9 supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine, the ZR1 boasts at least 100 hp per litre - the benchmark figure for performance vehicles.

Video: 2009 Pontiac Solstice coupe

General Motor's Pontiac arm enlisted the help of hip-hop/rap megastar 50 Cent aka 'Fiddy' to spruik the Solstice coupe at the annual New York Auto Show.

'Fiddy' is no stranger when it comes to stylish automobiles and has featured many exotic cars in his music videos over the years and he seemed particularly interested in the latest offering from Pontiac.

The car features delicious retro-styling cues and is available with two sporty engines - an entry-level 2.4-litre Ecotec four-cylinder engine with 127 kW (173 hp) and the flagship GXP model which comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged Ecotec engine with 191 kW (260 hp).

Production of the Pontiac Solstice coupe (click here to read more) will commence later this year.
