2009 Holden Barina

Holden has revealed an updated version of the Barina for the 2009 model year which includes a minor makeover featuring a new front fascia and mildly redesigned rear-end while an updated instrument panel, console and new fabric trim can be found inside the cabin.

The engine remains unchanged for 2009 with power from the Barina's 1.6-litre engine still at 76 kW and 145 Nm of torque. In terms of fuel economy there are better vehicles in this class with the Barina returning 7.0 L/100km (manual) and 7.6 L/100 km (automatic).

All 2009 Barina models including the the 4-door Barina sedan receive driver, front passenger and side-impact airbags as standard. What won't be standard are ABS brakes which are part of a $1,190 option pack also featuring alloy wheels.

Prices start at $14,490 for the 3-Door Hatch - the 4-Door Sedan and 5-Door Hatch starts from $15,990.

Immaculately detailed Vauxhall (Holden) Astra VXR

I have just come across what quite possibly is the cleanest car in the world!!

The proud owner of a brand new Vauxhall Astra VXR (Holden/HSV Astra VXR in Australia) in the UK has given his car a complete make-over upon taking delivery from the dealer.

Professional leather re-trimmers and upholsters were called in for the Recaro sports seats with customised embroidery while renowned car detailing guru, Paul Dalton of Miracle Detail was given the task of performing paintwork correction to get a nice level surface for maximum reflection.

To do this, Dalton had to take 25 individual readings from each panel of the car to build up a 3D picture in his head of how he would tackle the problem as well as uploading various data onto a laptop to compare the level of microns.

Anyway, here are some before and after pictures of the VXR.

And here is a video of how water just beads off the car like water off a duck's back.

As you can see, the transformation is stunning and it shows that even brand new cars from the factory can have paint work imperfections.
