2009 FPV GT-E

FPV GT-E

FPV is all set to take on high-end European performance sedans with the flagship GT-E uber-sedan.

Equipped with a 5.4-litre BOSS V8 engine developing 315 kW (6500 rpm) and 551 Nm of torque (4750 rpm), the FPV GT-E boasts high performance in an understated package free of the decals which adorn other vehicles in the range, namely, the F6 and GT-P.

Driving dynamics is superb courtesy of the independent double wish bone front suspension and performance control independent rear suspension giving the perfect balance between handling and comfort. Brilliant Brembo 6-piston calipers (front) and 4-piston calipers at the rear provides superior stopping performance while Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is also available to keep the vehicle in check.

Elegantly styled with striking chrome accents with just hint of its sporty credentials via the five-spoke 19-inch wheels, subtle lip spoiler and twin exhaust outlets (one on each side), the GT-E is easily distinguishable from its GT siblings.

Likewise, this elegant and luxurious theme extends to the vehicle's interior with plush charcoal leather seats and walnut woodgrain finish on the dash and doors. A leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, dual-zone climate-control air conditioning and electric everything rounds out the impressive list of interior features.

The FPV GT-E 'executive express' goes on sale nationally from June 2, 2008 priced from $76,990 (or $78,167 when the revised luxury-car tax comes into effect from July 1).

Ford Performance Vehicle (FPV) will bestow their two new models - based on the Ford FG Falcon range - with more than 300 kW of power in the battle for supremacy in the local muscle car market.

The F6 310 is powered by a turbocharged, 4.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine delivering 310 kW of power (at 5500 rpm) and a hefty 565 Nm of torque which is available from just 1950 rpm. For the V8 purists, the FPV GT's tweaked version of the 5.4-litre V8 BOSS unit produces a maximum power of 315 kW at 6500 rpm, and 551 Nm of torque at 4750 rpm.

FPV hopes that these new models will put up a good fight against HSV's imminent engine upgrade to a 6.2-litre LS3 motor which boasts 317 kW of power and 550 Nm of torque.

Given a recent test-drive of the standard Ford FG Falcon XR6 Turbo yielded a 0 - 100 km/h time of just 5.1 seconds, the F6 could very well become the fastest-accelerating Australian sedan with a sub-5 second time for the 0 - 100 km/h sprint.

The new range of FPV Falcons goes on sale in June 2008.
