HSV's new 6.2-litre V8
March 26th 2008 05:50
Holden's official in-house tuner HSV revealed changes to its engine lineup which gives it the bragging rights over traditional rival in the Australian muscle car market.
A US-sourced 6.2-litre V8 - codenamed LS3 - developing 317 kW of power (10 kW over the current models and 2 kW more than the 315 kW FPV GT) will be fitted to the local HSV range which includes the Maloo R8 ute, ClubSport R8, GTS, Senator Signature and Grange.
The LS3 engine, which is also used in the Chevrolet Corvette, will offer many advantages such as technological advancements to enhance the driving experience with fuel consumption reduced on some models, including the Maloo R8 and Grange.
Not content with just a new engine, a new selection of exterior colours including 'Red Hot' (bright red), for the luxury Grange and Senator Signature will also be available.
For the ballers out there, HSV will also offer a new and very 'bling' 20-inch wheel package as a $2500 option on the ClubSport R8, Senator Signature and Grange. The new 20-inch wheels are a no-cost option on the GTS and Maloo R8 performance pack.
