Ford fights back!
August 14th 2006 00:01
Ford have unveiled the BF Falcon MkII in response to Holden's all new VE Commodore.
The MkII range will go on sale in October and will be the next step in the evolution of the iconic Falcon brand and the ZF six-speed automatic transmission – which was the first six-speed automatic to be fitted to an Australian-built vehicle at BF Falcon – will be available on all petrol Falcon sedan models.
Perhaps most significantly is that as a result of further drivetrain efficiencies that have been achieved on these Falcon models, fuel economy will improve by a further two per cent, dropping 0.2 l/100km to 10.7 l/100km.
Prices are unknown at this stage, but I'm expecting a very little increase in price, if any at all.

i brought a ford au wagon because my two daughters where into ten pin bowling, but the wagon handle like a boat corning.1500 hundred dollars later with koni adjustables,i am very impressed with the handling now, don't any one from ford know anything about making a car that handle's .the auto box on my first falcon xy would rate better then the au.
as for the bf falcon and the ve commodore i think the commodore wins hands down and yes i have driven both.

The German sourced ZF gearbox is fitted on many other European makes and although that doesn't automatically it god like status, it does outperform the four speed and eraditcates the tendency to switch cogs too often.
Nice choice with the Koni adjustables - they are superb. What springs did you match the shocks with?
If you're after even better handling and greater adjustability, look no further than some coilovers. With many offering height and damper adjustability, you can stiffen up the suspension when you're up for some spirited drive (alone), or adjust for comfort when the family's in the car!
