Beijing preview: Roewe 550
April 18th 2008 11:15
If you thought that the Roewe 550 must be a premium European-built sedan, then you will be forgiven because despite its European roots (formerly MG Rover) the good-looking Roewe 550 that you see here is from a Chinese car maker and was built in China.
The body of the car is designed stylishly and with an interior that looks modern, stylish and well-fitted. The dash is beautifully designed with a futuristic-looking centrally-mounted tachometer and flanked by a digital speedometer and sat-nav display.
Keyless entry appears to be standard with a smart card that doubles up with an engine start/stop function - a gimmick that appears in many top-end sedans and sports cars but not something that you would expect from a Chinese car maker.
Technical specifications are unknown until after its grand unveiling in Beijing.
