2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S

German car maker Porsche has unveiled their first Turbo S version of the venerable 911 Carrera in five years ahead of its global debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show in March.

The range-topping 911 Turbo S boasts even more power and better handling prowess than the 'standard' 911 Turbo courtesy of its twin-turbocharged, six-cylinder boxer engine that now develops a massive 390 kW of power and 700 Nm of torque.

2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S interior

Available exclusively with the seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetrie be (PDK) double-clutch gearbox conveying drive power to the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system, driving safety has been optimised to an even higher standard. Dynamic Engine Mounts and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including a mechanical differential lock on the rear axle has boosted dynamics. In conjunction with Launch Control on the Sport Chrono Package Turbo likewise featured as standard, the 911 Turbo S accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds. Top speed is 315 km/h.

Extra-light and fading-resistant Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are standard as are Dynamic Bending Lights, 19-inch wheels in RS Spyder design with central locking, a three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, adaptive sports seats, cruise control, a CD/DVD changer and exclusive twin-tone leather upholstery in Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue.

The 911 Turbo S will be available in coupe and cabriolet guises.

The Official Porsche Press Release:

Porsche 911 Turbo S: Even More Dynamic, Top Equipment all Standard

Stuttgart. The engineers at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, have developed a new top-of-the-range sports car for the customer who will only settle for the very best in terms of power, performance and driving dynamics: the 911 Turbo S. The heart of this most exclusive high-performance athlete is of course a six-cylinder boxer boosted by two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, with an increase in power over the 911 Turbo by 30 to 530 bhp (390 kW). Maximum torque is a most impressive 700 Newton-metres (516 lb-ft). At the same time this new top model comes as standard with all high-tech components available only as options on the "regular" 911 Turbo.

Despite its significant increase in power and dynamic performance, the new 911 Turbo S, at 11.4 litres/100 kilometres (equal to 24.8 mpg imp), does not consume any more fuel than the Porsche 911 Turbo, making it by far the most efficient sports car in its performance class.

The 911 Turbo S comes exclusively with seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetrie be (PDK) (Porsche's Double-Clutch Gearbox) conveying drive power to Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive. Driving safety optimised to an even higher standard is ensured by Dynamic Engine Mounts and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including a mechanical differential lock on the rear axle. In conjunction with Launch Control on the Sport Chrono Package Turbo likewise featured as standard, 911 Turbo S accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds

Top speed is 315 km/h or 195 mph. Extra-light and fading-resistant Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) provide the same outstanding performance in terms of stopping power and controlled application of the brakes.

The supreme level of standard equipment including Dynamic Bending Lights, 19-inch wheels in RS Spyder design with central locking, a three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, adaptive sports seats, cruise control, a CD/DVD changer and exclusive twin-tone leather upholstery in Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue additionally underlines the outstanding class and calibre of this first Turbo S in five years.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S will be at the dealership as both a Coupé and Cabriolet as of May 2010. The German market price of the Turbo S Coupé is Euro 173,241 including 19 per cent value-added tax and local equipment in the market (the Euro base price is Euro 145,400). The Cabriolet retails in the German market at Euro 184.546, again including 19 per cent VAT and local equipment/specifications (base price Euro 154,900).

2011 BMW 335is

BMW has unveiled the 335is Coupe and Convertible, a quicker and more powerful version of the standard 335i, ahead of its public debut at the New York International Auto Show.

Powered by a tweaked version of the widely-acclaimed "N54" twin-turbocharged inline-6 - and since replaced by the single-turbocharged "N55" - the engine now features a heavy-duty cooling system and has received special software that allows the N54 to sustain a nominal output of 239 kW (320 hp) and 450 Nm of torque.

2011 BMW 335is

The 335is also features a temporary overboost function allowing the engine to produce up to 501Nm of torque for a boost performance during overtaking and other high-load / high-speed manoeuvres.

The 335is Coupe completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in a shade over 5.0 seconds with the optional 7-speed DCT and 5.3 seconds with the manual 6-speed. The 335is Convertible, meanwhile, requires only 5.3 seconds for the 0-100 run whether equipped with the 6-speed manual or optional 7-speed DCT.

Based on the facelifted 2011 BMW 3 Series Coupe and Convertible, the 335is models also get the new high-depth LED tail lights, new xenon adaptive headlights with LED-lighted corona rings, and the new bonnet integrated with a refreshened BMW kidney grille. On top of that, the 335is will receive new M Sport enhancements which include comprehensive M aerodynamic elements, kidney grille surrounds in high gloss black, Shadowline black window trim, wing mirror caps in high gloss black, exclusive "335is" badges on each front fender and the rear of the bootlid, and standard 18-inch light alloy wheels in ferric grey colour. Optional 19-inch light alloy M wheels are also available.

Australian release of the BMW 335is has yet to be confirmed.
