Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport

The first - chassis no.1 - Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport has been auctioned off for US$2.95 million at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance over the weekend.

As the highly sought after first vehicle - out of 150 only - to roll off the production line, Bugatti had taken the decision to donate this specific car to charity. In the end, it took the winning bidder a staggering $2.95 million to own the first ever Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport - $900,000 more than its original price.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport features a unique removable roof along with the same 8.0-litre, 16-cylinder, double V engine generating 1,001 bhp as its hard-top sibling. It is capable of reaching 100km/h from rest in 2.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 407 km/h (with the roof on). Speeds of up to 360 km/h are still possible with the roof off while the temporary 'umbrella' cloth roof further limits the Veyron’s top speed to 130 km/h.

The winning bidder of chassis no.1 will now be invited to the Bugatti factory to specify his Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport to his/her exact requirements.

Koenigsegg CCXR

Swedish 'hypercar' manufacturer Koenigsegg has released some technical specifications and hi-res images of their newest and baddest model - the CCXR.

Powered by a bio-fuel twin supercharged 4.8-litre V8 engine, the CCXR pumps out an unbelievable 749kW (1018hp) at 7,200rpm and 1060Nm (740 lb-ft) of torque!

If you thought the Lamborghini Reventon that gave a Panavia Tornado jet-fighter a run for its money was fast enough, then think again because the CCXR is good for a 0-100km/h time of just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of over 400km/h!

This figures are insane! And that's before we even start talking about moolah!

Koenigsegg CCXR

The Koenigsegg CCXR will cost €1,575,000 plus taxes, so yeah, these babies will be rarer than rocking horse sh**, guaranteed.

Here are some technical specifications compiled by the good folks over at Motor Authority.
