New sales record for Fiat Australia
May 23rd 2008 00:15
The all-new Fiat 500 compact hatchback has driven the Italian marque to its largest sales month since its Australian return in 2006.
Fiat's record sales month in April 2008 was inspired by the stylish, chic good looks of the modern reincarnation of the Fiat 500, which have inspired hundreds of thousands of buyers around the world. Boasting a five star EuroNCAP safety, high equipment levels and its environmental ability, the 1.3 JTD Turbo Diesel variant is the most economical car in Australia.
General Manager for Fiat cars in Australia, Edward Butler said: "Good though it is to record a record month, if we could meet the demand for the 500, we could have more than tripled our April result!,
"Australian demand for the Fiat 500, as in every market in which this chic little car is sold, far outstrips supply and we are taking orders now for delivery in four month's time - something that is probably unique in its category!"

With Australian prices starting at $22,990 for the 1.2-litre 'Pop' 3-door manual and up to $27,990 for the 1.4-litre 'Lounge' 3-door manual, it is no wonder the Fiat 500 has been selling like hotcakes.
"The Fiat 500 is living proof that being good to the environment and driving a safe car does not have to be a slow, basic, cramped misery," added Edward Butler. "The Fiat 500 is top of the class for safety and the environment; it seats four people and has a decent boot. Yet it is also a chic, stylish, great fun to drive car that is a pleasure to own. The sales figures prove that the new Fiat 500 really is the ideal car for the 21st century!"
