Twin-Turbo V8 for the Ferrari F70?

Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari is contemplating a twin-turbo V8 for its F70 hero car due sometime in 2012.
Keen to go green for reasons that include the stringent European emission laws that will come into place in 2012 amongst its plans to help fight global warming, Ferrari GT technical director Roberto Fedeli confirmed engineers were investigating both V12 and V8 options for the new supercar while speaking to magazine, AutoWeek.
Fedeli also expressed that Ferrari has no interest in taking part in the forever escalating power wars, but instead, wishes to focus on power-to-weight and driving dynamics.
“For us, it’s not just a question of power. We have to choose whether we maintain the shape of the weight-to-power curve of the Enzo with more power or with less weight,” he said. “If we do a [1,000kg (2200lb)] car with the same weight-to-power ratio as the FXX, then you want to save the maximum weight. The best packaging for that kind of car is an eight-cylinder turbo. That would have to be an all-new V8.”
If this means we could actually be seeing, in essence, a new and improved version of the fantastic F40, then bring on 2012!
