Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla has out-sold 'Australia's favourite car' - the Holden Commodore - by more than 500 units in the first quarter (Jan 1 - March 31) of 2008.

In the first three months of 2008, Toyota sold a total of 12,002 Corollas - up 900 from the same time last year - to topple the Holden Commodore as the best selling car of the year so far. Toyota's success can be credited to a number of factors including the ever rising cost of petrol, the demise of the large vehicle segment and the lack of a wagon variant for the Commodore.

In the coming months, the new VE Commodore Wagon will be introduced to the market as well as the new Ford FG Falcon range so expect to see the Corolla's reign as the top dog severely tested.

Subaru WRX STi Veilside

According to the enthusiasts over at Exhaustnote.com, the all-new Subaru WRX STi hatchback is set to make its debut on the silver-screen in the fourth installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise.

Seen here in these images, a Subaru WRX STi is undergoing fitment of a bodykit from renowned aftermarket tuners, Veilside. Featuring an aggressive vented bonnet scoop, front bumper, sideskirts, rear spoiler and diffuser, the interior has also been stripped with the back seats making way for a roll-cage (possibly for filming purposes). The vehicle is set to be the hero car of the new movie with reports that it will be driven by actor Paul Walker who plays ex-cop Brian O’Connor.

Going by past 'TFATF' movies, expect the final version of this Subie to feature a custom paint job, art scheme and decals by the time shooting starts.
