Up until June 30, 2008, Hyundai Australia fitted ESP Stability Control on the Getz SX, Elantra SX and Tucson City SX completely free of charge to promote this potential life-saving technology and customers were quick to embrace Hyundai's efforts to promote better safety on our roads.

Hyundai 2008 ESP Stability Control fitment rates:

Figures for May and June show that uptake of ESP almost doubled across Hyundai’s model range, from 17% for April YTD to 31% in the May / June period. Within the Private / Business sectors the uptake was even more dramatic, increasing from 19% for April YTD to 35% in the May / June period.

Within the Private / Business sector, customer choice for ESP Stability Control on Getz increased from 3% for April YTD to 14% in May / June, on Elantra from 15% to 76% and Tucson from 26% to 58% in the same period.

“Hyundai pioneered the introduction of an ESP Stability Control option within the light car market on the Getz back in February 2006 and our recent ‘End of Financial Year’ retail campaign reflects Hyundai’s continuing commitment to make the technology available to all Australian consumers,” said Kevin McCann, Hyundai’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “Not only have we had the best month ever for HMCA, but there are now more Hyundai vehicles than ever before fitted with this crucial life saving equipment on the road.”

Independent research conducted by Monash University indicates that ESP Stability Control can reduce the chance of injury in a serious crash by as much as 68%.

Korean car maker Hyundai has launched its mid-year sale campaign with the offer of free ESP Stability Control as standard in a select range of its passenger vehicles.

The compact hatchback Getz 1.6 SX, small sedan Elantra and Tucson City SUV will receive free stability control for purchases made between April 15 and the end of the financial year (June 30). Furthermore, the Getz 1.4 S will receive free ABS for the same period while all the above offers include drive-away pricing.

Hyundai’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Kevin McCann said: "Local research from Monash University in Victoria confirms that ESP Stability Control can reduce the risk of a single vehicle accident where the driver is injured by as much as 68 per cent,

"Hyundai believes the fitment of ESP Stability Control will be mandated on all new cars sold in Australia, and we are therefore including this life-saving technology as a feature of our Mid-Year Sale campaign.

"Our own research indicates that as soon as people understand what ESP Stability Control does, they value it even more highly than ABS anti-skid brakes."

This is a great campaign on Hyundai's part to improve safety on our roads with the inclusion of this potentially life-saving technology.

The Mid-Year sale campaign prices are as follows:

Getz 1.4 S $13,990 Driveaway with free ABS,
Getz 1.6 SX $14,990 Driveaway with free ESP Stability Control
Elantra 2.0 SX $19,990 Driveaway with free ESP Stability Control
Tucson City 2.0 SX $24,990 Driveaway with free ESP Stability Control
