Pagani Zonda Tricolore

Pagani Zonda Tricolore

Making its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the Pagani Zonda Tricolore was created in celebration of the Italian National Aerobatic Team's 50th Anniversary. Known as "Frecce Tricolori" (Ialian for Tricolour Arrows), the squadron was formed in the 1960s and is based at Rivolto Air Force Base, in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, province of Udine.

Boasting a two-seat aircraft - the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN - capable of 898 km/h at sea level amongst its fleet, it is fitting that Italian supercar marque Pagani has released a special edition Zonda - painted in the same livery as the aircraft - to commemorate this special occasion.

The Official Pagani Press Release:

Zonda Tricolore
On the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the "Frecce Tricolori", Pagani Automobili created the Zonda Tricolore as a tribute to the National Aerobatic Team.

In 2010 the aerobatic season of the Frecce Tricolori comes to its 50th anniversary, which will be celebrated on 11th and 12th September at Rivolto Airport (info: www.aeronautica.difesa.it).

The Frecce Tricolori (Italian, literally Tricolour Arrows), officially known as the 313th Aerobatic Training Squadron is the demonstration team of the Italian Air Force, based at Rivolto Air Force Base, in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, province of Udine. They were formed in 1961 as an Air Force team, replacing previous teams that had been sponsored by various commands by the end of the 1920s.

The team flies the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN, a two-seat aircraft capable of 898 km/h at sea level, with nine aircraft and a solo (the highest number of aircraft of any aerobatic team in the world).

The Frecce Tricolori belong to the legacy of the entire Italian community.

2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera

With arguably the largest motor show on earth just starting, you wouldn't expect supercar marque Lamborghini to remain quiet so may we present you the 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera.

Making its debut in Geneva, the range-topping Gallardo is the first successor to the original Gallardo Superleggera that debuted back in 2007. The light-weight and track-focussed baby Lambo is powered by a 5.2-litre V10 with direct-injection developing 419 kW/570 horsepower (hence its namesake) and needless to say, performance is astonishing.

2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera

Boasting permanent all-wheel drive and weighing 70 kilograms less than the 'standard' Gallardo LP 560-4, the new Superleggera sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 325 km/h.

Honed in the wind tunnel to achieve increased aerodynamic effects, the designers from Lamborghini's Centro Stile remodeled the front bumper - three-dimensional, deeply recessed elements form trapezoidal frames for the large air intakes. Together with the V-shaped, sharply defined nose and the LED daytime running lights, the black elements give the front end a razor-sharp look, reminiscent of Lamborghini's top model. The new design increases the supply of cooling air and improves the downforce on the front axle.

The fully-covered underbody has been redesigned to include new sill elements and an aggressive diffuser incorporating four large tailpipes while a small rear spoiler come as standard - a large spoiler is available as an option.

Being a 'super-light' model, extensive use of expensive carbon-fibre has helped the Superleggera achieve a dry weight of just 1340 kilograms (2954 lb) thus making it the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini's range.

Rounding out the hardware updates include 19-inch forged aluminum wheels, optional carbon ceramic disc brakes, and a six-speed e-gear transmission.

Exclusivity with this supercar has already been guaranteed but for customers who want to personalise their Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera even further, they can use Lamborghini's wide-ranging options of the "Ad Personam" individualisation program.
