November 18th 2008 05:55
Mazda3 150,000th milestone Australia

Japanese car maker Mazda reached a milestone here in Australia when it sold its 150,000th Mazda3 small car to a customer in Victoria this month. Since going on sale locally in January 2004, the small has been a huge success for Mazda as well achieving critical acclaim through various awards such as being named Australia's Best Small Car by the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and Drive.com.au in both 2006 and 2007.

The Mazda3 has played a huge part in Mazda's strong overall sales growth over the last 12 months. Since November 2007, Mazda Australia has sold 80,536 new vehicles, up 6.9 per cent over the previous 12 month period (VFACTS; October 2008 figures).

Speaking from a global perspective, the Mazda3 or Axela as it is called in Japan, has accounted for more than a third of Mazda's worldwide sales with more than 1.8 million Mazda3s sold since its launch in 2004.

The new generation Mazda3, a replacement for the current model, is due to be unveiled at the LA Auto Show this week.

The Official Mazda Press Release:

150,000 Milestone for Mighty Mazda3

The sporty and compact Mazda3 small car, one of Australia's favourite cars, reached a milestone 150,000 sales in November.

The 150,000th Mazda3, a Sunlight Silver Mazda3 Neo Sport sedan, was bought from Essendon Mazda in Victoria by Vanessa White.

Vanessa said she was attracted to the Mazda3 because it was the most affordable, most practical and best looking car around.

"I looked at a number of other cars but the Mazda3 was the one for me. It's a sporty and stylish little car with great features and it's really practical. It's top-notch for safety and the after sales service Mazda offers is second-to-none.

"And the best bit, it's affordable and great value for money!"

Mazda's Managing Director Doug Dickson applauded the Mazda3's magic milestone.

"This is a great milestone for a great small car that has hit the sweet spot with consumers and underpinned Mazda's success over the last five years," he said.

"Mazda3's stylish insightful and spirited DNA, its striking design and class-leading dynamics resonates with consumers' desires and demands."

Since its launch in January 2004 the Mazda3 has achieved critical acclaim as well as sales success. It was named Australia's Best Small Car by the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and Drive.com.au in 2006 and again in 2007.

The Mazda3 has also been praised for its class-leading active safety by respected motoring publication Wheels magazine, winning the 2008 Wheels Active Safety Program award.

Essendon Mazda's Joe Cucuzza was chuffed to hear about the Mazda3 milestone for his sparkling new dealership.

"To play a part in this Mazda3 milestone is just great and very timely indeed. Complete with an up-to-the-minute showroom and new vehicle delivery area, our brand new dealership creates a fitting space in which to showcase Mazda's top-quality product.

"These facilities provide customers with a great dealership experience and the security of dealing with a trusted brand in Mazda."

Vanessa White agrees: "Essendon Mazda was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Their sales team provided me with all the information I needed to make my decision. The whole experience was made very easy and the service I received is well on par with their outstanding new facilities.

"They're very family orientated and didn't mind that I had my young daughter with me; they even let her play in the cars!"

Mazda3's sales have contributed to Mazda's strong overall sales growth over the last 12 months. Since November 2007, Mazda Australia has sold 80,536 new vehicles, up 6.9 per cent over the previous 12 month period (according to October VFACTS).

Mazda3 accounts for more than a third of Mazda's worldwide sales. More than 1.8 million Mazda3s have been sold since its launch in 2004.

The all-new Life was developed with the concept of "daily smile technology" to achieve a level of drivability and utility customers can enjoy in their everyday lives. With an emphasis on advanced safety technologies, the Life is also the world's first automobile equipped with a driver-side i-SRS airbag system with continuously staged inflation, which accommodates a broad range of occupant positions and potential collision situations.

- Center pillar grip for easy entry and exit, even for children and seniors.

Since first introduced in 1971, the Life has evolved with the times, always offering exceptional value while focusing on the people and lifestyles of each era.
