2011 Mazda Mazda6

2011 Mazda Mazda6

Mazda Australia has confirmed the Mazda6 will receive a midlife makeover in 2010, with the new range adding design and specification upgrades and an all-new Touring wagon for the 2011 model year.

Set to make its worldwide debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show, the facelifted Mazda6 is due to arrive in Australia around autumn boasting an evolved exterior design in keeping with Mazda6's 'emotional and sporty' original design theme.

Specific exterior design upgrades will incorporate Mazda's expressive signature 'family face', a look in keeping with other new Mazda vehicles including New Generation Mazda3 and CX-7. Redesigned front headlamps, taillights and alloy wheels contribute to New Mazda6's evolved exterior guise.

Like its award-winning predecessor, New Mazda6 will continue to be the only medium car in Australia to offer a choice of three body styles, sedan, hatch and wagon. The introduction of the all-new Touring wagon with leather means Australian buyers will now have even more choice when deciding which Mazda6 best fits their lifestyle.

Engines remain unchanged with Mazda6's impressive 2.5 litre petrol and 2.2 litre turbodiesel engines powering the facelift model. Mazda6's MZR-CD 2.2 litre four-cylinder common-rail turbodiesel engine continues to offer class-leading torque of 400Nm and outstanding fuel economy of 5.9 litres per 100km.

Mazda2 Now Made In Thailand

2010 Mazda2 sedan

From the middle of next year and onwards, Australian-delivered Mazda2 will be manufactured from Thailand and not Japan as they currently are. The Mazda2 will be built in a new state-of-the-art production plant in Thailand that can produce 50,000 Mazda2's each year for ASEAN and export markets.

The new, highly flexible plant utilises the latest automotive manufacturing technologies and systems, including a new stamping line and body shop, trim and final process areas.

AAT uses the Mazda-developed Three Layer Wet Paint system, an environmentally-friendly system which dramatically reduces volatile organic compound (VOC) and CO2 emissions, and improves vehicle painting quality.

According to Mazda Australia Managing Director, Doug Dickson, the move in production from Japan to Thailand was necessary to bring the all-new sedan version of the popular light car to Australia.

"We are delighted to be able to offer Australians the all-new Mazda2 sedan and moving to Thailand production enables us to do this," said Dickson.

The new Mazda2 sedan sits on the same 2,490mm wheelbase as its hatchback sibling and will be powered by a 1.5-litre 76 kW petrol engine. The sedan variant blends the same sporty and dynamic design for which Mazda2 is known with an impressive 450 litres of storage space.
