2011 Lexus IS 350

May 19th 2010 18:00
2011 Lexus IS 350

The 2011 Lexus IS 350 will launch in Australia in the final quarter of 2010 with the highest specific output of any of its naturally aspirated six-cylinder rivals.

Powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine, the IS 350 will develop 233 kW, attaining a specific output of 67.4kW per litre - the highest among its competitors and the highest of a petrol engine in the Lexus range.

Not only that, the IS 350 will also feature the greatest torque of any of its naturally aspirated rivals - with 378Nm of torque available at 4800 rpm.

"IS 350, along with CT 200h and other forthcoming product, will continue to grow Lexus' product range and appeal to consumers," said Lexus Australia chief executive Tony Cramb.

"IS 350 is evidence of our moves to widen our product range and close up a few gaps that exist there, with IS 350 slotting nicely between IS 250 and our performance flagship IS F.

"We have no doubt that, with its new 3.5-litre engine and features, IS 350 will be a very popular vehicle,"
Mr Cramb said.

"We are just as excited about this car as our customers are." he added.

Local pricing for the Lexus IS 350 will be announced closer to its launch date later this year.

2010 Subaru Impreza WRX Club Spec 10

Hot on the news of a wide-body WRX for the 2011 model year, Subaru Australia has just announced the release of a special edition Impreza WRX Club Spec 10 in May.

The Club Spec 10 is the latest in a long-running series of limited edition WRXs to feature several technical enhancements from the Subaru Tecnica International (STI) catalogue, plus luxury interior features.

An STI front lip spoiler enhances aerodynamics and improves stability and cornering.

A flexible strut tower bar helps to ensure the front wheels maintain excellent ground contact to improve cornering capacity, while delivering a vibrant and sharp steering response.

The flexible lower bar and front support kit add strength, reduce chassis flex and produce sharper steering.

Lightweight, 17-inch Enkei alloy wheels are half an inch wider than the standard Impreza WRX rim. The extra width stiffens the sidewall, reduces deflection and produces more grip, especially when cornering.

Comfort is also a priority and the Impreza WRX Club Spec 10 gets factory-fitted leather seats, sunroof and satellite navigation.

Only 250 will be built in WRC Blue, Obsidian Black and Satin White sedan only and all feature special edition badging.
