Official: Kia Forte revealed

July 3rd 2008 06:30
Kia Forte

Last week, we brought you two teaser images of the upcoming Kia Cerato hatchback replacement called Forte by the Korean car maker and the initial response was very positive indeed.

Kia has now released a set of images showing off the Forte in all its glory for the first time and it is safe to say that this new model is the most inspirational looking vehicle to roll of Kia's production lines. Following the same design language as the Kia Koup Concept, the Forte features sharp styling cues penned by former Audi TT and Volkswagen Beetle designer Peter Schreyer, that would rival many of its Japanese and European competitors.

Sure, you could criticise the new Forte for ripping the front-end design from a Honda Civic/Accord Euro but that is beside the point - just take one look at the rest of the current Kia range and you will soon realise that the new Forte is truly a masterpiece.

Hyundai Australia has announced its best ever sales result in the month of June on the back of its overwhelmingly successful ESP Stability Control campaign.

For the month of June 2008, Hyundai recorded total sales of 5,447 vehicles thus beating the previous best of 5,221 vehicles sold in June 2005 with the i30 (1,074), iLoad (257) and Tucson (1138) achieving their best ever results.

Up until June 30, 2008, Hyundai Australia fitted ESP Stability Control on the Getz SX, Elantra SX and Tucson City SX completely free of charge to promote this potential life-saving technology and customers were quick to embrace Hyundai's efforts to promote better safety on our roads.

Hyundai 2008 ESP Stability Control fitment rates:

Figures for May and June show that uptake of ESP almost doubled across Hyundai’s model range, from 17% for April YTD to 31% in the May / June period. Within the Private / Business sectors the uptake was even more dramatic, increasing from 19% for April YTD to 35% in the May / June period.

Within the Private / Business sector, customer choice for ESP Stability Control on Getz increased from 3% for April YTD to 14% in May / June, on Elantra from 15% to 76% and Tucson from 26% to 58% in the same period.

“Hyundai pioneered the introduction of an ESP Stability Control option within the light car market on the Getz back in February 2006 and our recent ‘End of Financial Year’ retail campaign reflects Hyundai’s continuing commitment to make the technology available to all Australian consumers,” said Kevin McCann, Hyundai’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “Not only have we had the best month ever for HMCA, but there are now more Hyundai vehicles than ever before fitted with this crucial life saving equipment on the road.”

Independent research conducted by Monash University indicates that ESP Stability Control can reduce the chance of injury in a serious crash by as much as 68%.
