2009 Hyundai Tucson

Leading Korean car maker Hyundai has released the 2009 model year Tucson range loaded with a raft of enhancements including a minor facelift, plus new luxury and safety features to add extra appeal and enhance value across the range.

While the facelift on the 2009 Tucson is minor, its revised front grille, a change of colour for the front indicator lens, redesigned rear tailgate garnish, new wheels and a charcoal black interior are subtle but noticeable.

As a strong advocate for the life-saving benefits of electronic stability control in vehicles, Hyundai has included ESP Stability Control, incorporating Traction Control System (TCS), as standard across the range. In-car entertainment has been boosted by the inclusion of Bluetooth audio that allows wireless streaming of music directly from a Bluetooth compatible mobile phone or compatible music player as well as a phone-book that can store up to 78 numbers and names. The new audio unit includes integrated USB and Aux sockets allowing users to connect and play music from their iPod, MP3 player or USB memory stick.

Four new exterior colours are available for the enhanced Tucson range - Sleek Silver, Iron Blue, Silver Grey and Dark Bronze (all metallic)

The 2009 Tucson is available in three different trim levels: City ‘SX’, City ‘Elite’ and SX V6. The entry-level City ‘SX’ model boasts 5-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels including a full-size alloy spare, Anti-skid Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, dual front airbags, 4 speakers, front fog lamps, keyless remote entry, alarm, power windows and exterior mirrors and standard roof bars. A trip computer and auto light control system (auto headlights on / off) have also been added to the 2009 Tucson City ‘SX’ (these features are now standard across the entire 2009 Tucson range).

The mid-level 2009 Tucson City ‘Elite’ trim gains full leather seat trim (replacing half moquette, half leather seat trim) and Bluetooth® audio with integrated USB and Aux sockets. Other features over and above Tucson ‘SX’ variants include front and rear passenger side curtain SRS airbags, driver and front passenger side (thorax) airbags, 6 speakers including tweeters and an electric glass sunroof.

The top-of-the-range 2009 Tucson ‘SX V6’ gains all the enhancements of the 2009 City ‘SX’, but differs with its 2.7 V6 petrol AWD powertrain, unique new 5 dual-spoke alloy wheel design, body colour protective cladding on the lower part of the doors and wheel arches and twin chrome exhaust outlets.

A new Protectz pack option is available on Tucson City SX and Tucson SX V6 comprising driver and front passenger side (thorax) SRS airbags and front and rear passenger side curtain SRS airbags.

Kia Sorento Global Circuit

Despite the escalating cost of petrol, Aussie car buyers have not shied away from SUVs, in particular, the medium-sized 4WD variety according to the VFACTS figures for June 2008.

Korean car maker Kia is doing its bit to help continue this trend by releasing a limited edition of its popular Sorento mid-sized SUV. The Global Circuit edition Kia Sorento draws its inspiration from Swedish adventurer Christer Gerlach who used the SUV for his 2005 solo circumnavigation of the world.

The limited edition Sorento Global Circuit pack, features $3,400 worth of extra equipment including a towbar with wiring, nudge bar, roof bar set, genuine tailored carpet mats, rear parking sensors, alloy side steps, rubber cargo mat, ARB recovery kit and unique Global Circuit badging - at no extra cost.

Bill Gillespie, Director of Sales and Marketing at Kia Motors Australia said: "In Australia, Sorento appeals to buyers who want 4WD capability, strong towing capacity, comprehensive equipment, outstanding value and the confidence of a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty.

"Sorento now offers a choice of 2.5-litre common rail diesel or 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine, with lower running costs and emissions, renowned quality and higher levels of safety.

"This limited edition Global Circuit pack recognises the significance of his achievements by bringing together some of the equipment most sought by Sorento customers who want to undertake their own big adventure.

"Best of all, this equipment comes at no extra cost - it's a great deal."

The Global Circuit pack is available across the Sorento range including both the 3.3-litre petrol V6 engine producing 180kW or the new, torquey 2.5-litre turbo-diesel with common rail direct injection (CRDi) producing 125kW.

The new limited edition Sorento Global Circuit pack is on sale now until October this year.
