Lamborghini Reventon vs Tornado jet-fighter

The good people over at Motor Authority have reported that the latest supercar to challenge a jet-fighter in a drag race is the ultra-exclusive hypercar, Lamborghini Reventon.

The location of the 'battle' was on a 3km stretch of runway at the Ghedi airforce base in Italy to ensure that the Reventon was given a nice flat road; long enough for it to reach (or at least come close) its top speed and also a place to launch a Panavia Tornado jet-fighter obviously.

At the launch, the Reventon's stupendous power and neck-jarring traction gave it the lead; the car's 3.4s 0-100km/h sprint time giving it the jump it needed but like many challengers that have come and gone, including the 736kW Bugatti Veyron, the jet-fighter slowly reeled in the road car near the closing stages as the jet’s wheels left the ground and surpassed the Reventon's 340km/h top speed thus pipping it to the post!

Although one would struggle to understand the point of pitting a road-going car against a jet-fighter, it must be said that it is one heck of a marketing stunt that would have no problems capturing the imagination of any motoring enthusiast.

The point of putting a car against a jet fighter even tho you know after takeoff its not gonna win... !The pure fact that your car is fast enough for someone to think it COULD stand up to a jet fighter.! nuff said

Try the 1986 Ford RS200 Group B rally car. The street car in stock street form would do 0-60 in 2.1 seconds. 2.9 seconds on dirt. That is in-fucking-credible. And it is a 1986 Ford not a 2009 2.5 million dollar Lambo.
