Specialist Mazda aftermarket tuner, Autoexe, has given the new Mazda6 - Atenza in Japan - a makeover complete with an aerodynamic bodykit and upgraded handling via a raft of suspension components such as lowered springs, adjustable stabliser link, tower brace set, strut tower bar, and many more.

The bodykit features a new front bumper incorporating a large air intake and a dynamic character line that extends from the front fender. The rear also features a new bumper which houses a set of quad exhaust tips around the under spoiler while a set of 18-inch 5-spoke wheels round off the cosmetic changes.

The biggest changes occur to the chassis which has been tuned to deliver even sharper handling response and firmer grip via an upper-lower two level brace kit that evolves body strength and sturdiness by adding more volume to the monocoque body structure and the sports tunable suspension.

Intake, exhaust, and brake upgrades are also available with nearly all the aforementioned upgrades adaptable for all Mazda6/Atenza body types, including 5-door sport , Sport wagon, and Sedan.

Mazda6

In what comes as a surprise move, Mazda Australia has announced a price cut for the recently launched Mazda6 in a bid to boost sales for the mid-sized vehicle.

Depending on the model, savings of between $1,750 and $3,920 can now be had starting with the new price for the entry-level 'Limited sedan' manual model at $27,990 (a $1,750 saving) with the flagship 'Luxury Sports' hatch getting the biggest cut of $3,920, now costing $42,990.

The new entry-level $27,990 price tag for the Mazda6 gives it a cheaper entry point than any of its main competitors such as the segment leading Toyota Camry, Ford Mondeo, Subaru Liberty and the all-new Honda Accord Euro.

While Mazda Australia boss Doug Dickson denies any disappointment with the average 950 sales per month (around 50 vehicles short of the 1000 sales a month target) since the new Mazda6's launch, the number crunchers will be keen to point out that the new model has yet to reach the heights set by its predecessor which consistently achieved more than 1000 sales per month when it was launched back in 2002.

Dickson hopes the revised price will boost monthly sales of the Mazda6 nearer the 1100 mark, which in turn should also lift Mazda Australia's 2008 sales forecast to 82,000.
