Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Panamericana

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Panamericana

The Gullwing-America team lead by Chief Engineer Arturo Alonso has started work on an exterior styling package for the all-new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in an effort to make it look more retro and closer to that of the legendary Gullwing 300 SL.

As you can see from these stunning renderings, the clean grille, the ribs on the bonnet and fenders and other details that made the original Gullwing a collector's item are featured in the conversion kit - dubbed "Panamericana" - and consists of seven body parts made from a hybrid of aluminium and carbon fibre, two side vents, a set of chrome details including a grille frame, new oval dual xenon headlights, a staggered set of GWA wheels (19-inches at the front; 20-inches at the rear), a sports exhaust system plus other bits and pieces.

Alcantara centre-piece insert for the seats with special contrast stitching to resemble the plaid design of the past and a set of illuminated brushed aluminium door sills that light up with the engraved Panamericana logo as you open the doors are the only optional upgrades for the stunning interior.

Shown here in white with red stripes and a flashy red interior, the legendary racing stripes on the front fenders comes in any combination you so desire.

This is beautiful..except for the wheel cutouts. Looks like a cheap custom lowering. Not so sure about the flares, either. I know the 300SL had them, but they were more integrated with the whole than these.

I am enjoying appreciating the rest of it though.

I get what you mean. Being aftermarket, the flares were never going to be as integrated as they would have been from the factory.

These pictures are actually computer renderings so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out in the metal.
