Geneva Preview: Opel Tigra TwinTop 'Illusion'

Soft-top convertibles are great for open top driving but pose enough concerns at other times for manufacturers to opt for a hard-top, a trend created by the first generation Mercedes-Benz SLK-class and copied by everything from a Daihatsu (Copen) to a BMW (3-series).
However, none of these hard-top convertibles have been able to combine the safety and convenience of a steel-roof with the classic fabric-roofed convertible of a soft-top - until now.
General Motor's European arm Opel believes that a number of buyers would like the fabric look combined with a hard-top so the new Tigra TwinTop 'Illusion' version features a electro-hydraulic retractable steel roof which is covered in a Bordeaux red canvas.
The Opel Tigra TwinTop 'Illusion' features two engine choices - a 66 kW 1.4-litre or 92 kW 1.8-litre engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The Bordeaux red canvas retractable steel roof folds in 18 seconds.
