Fkn Fast Fusion
August 18th 2007 04:26
In a slight departure to what I assume is Ford Motor Co's philosophy behind the Fusion, this particular one piloted by ex Ford employee Rick Byrnes registered a top speed of 207.297 mph (333.6km/h) at the famed Bonneville Salt Flats last Wednesday 15 August, 2007. This marks the first time a production-based vehicle sporting a hydrogen fuel cell cracked the 200mph barrier and so far is the fastest hydrogen fuel cell race car out there.
The press release states that the vehicle took more than 1 year to put together and seems to bear little resemblance to a regular Fusion. Nevertheless it is a landmark in hydrogen fuel cell development and proves that speed can be achieved without a big block, blown and methanol burning engine hanging out the bonnet - something most of the American public will still have problems coming to grips with.
Regardless, Ford was quick to blow steam up its own ass by stating "What we've accomplished is nothing short of an industry first," said Matt Zuehlk, lead engineer on the project. "No other automaker in the world has come close."

Call me a cynic or a realist, but I bet none of these proud fellas has a Fusion in their garage at home
