AIMS preview: 2009 Peugeot 308 CC

September 10th 2008 05:00
2009 Peugeot 308 CC

French car maker Peugeot has acknowledged the importance of the Australian car market bringing the all-new 308 CC (Coupe / Convertible) to Sydney for its southern hemisphere debut at the Australian International Motor Show, just a week after its international debut at the prestigious Paris Motor Show.

The 308 CC, powered by either a 140bhp 2.0HDi or a 150bhp 1.6 litre turbocharged engine, boasts seating for four adults, capitalising on all the inbuilt strengths of the 308 range whilst still embodying the "307 CC spirit" and Peugeot's coupe / cabriolet expertise since the 206 CC emerged over seven years ago to bring a hard-topped convertible to the masses.

According to Peugeot, the 308 CC's retractable hard-top roof opens / closes in a very respectable 20 seconds flat. On offer will be some exclusive and innovative features usually reserved for far more expensive and upscale convertibles such as the introduction of a warm air heating system built into the front seats. This "Airwave" system works similarly to Mercedes-Benz's "Airscarf" system on the SL- and SLK-class convertibles and acts like a scarf by diffusing warm air adjustable for temperature, flow and direction around the occupant's shoulders / neck - no longer is top-down driving an exclusive summer pastime.

This is a great opportunity for the Australian public to preview the 308 CC before it goes on sale here in April 2009. The 308 CC will be sitting proudly at the Peugeot stand at the Australian International Motor Show from October 9.
