Just weeks after announcing the revival of the Gordini name for its sporty and performance variants, French car maker Renault has unveiled the first model to wear the prestigious nameplate: the Renault Twingo Gordini RS.

Powered by a 98 kW, 1.6-litre engine that develops a distinctive, specially-tuned engine pitch under acceleration, the Twingo Gordini RS also features a 'Sport' chassis with 17-inch wheels for outstanding road-holding performance; precise, incisive steering for even greater fun at the wheel, and powerful, durable braking performance.

Seen in these images wearing the combination of French racing blue and white racing stripes (Pearlescent Black metallic paint is also available), the interior is a sporty and stylish affair featuring Renault Sport seats with extra lateral support, plus blue and black quilted, Gordini-badged leather upholstery, blue leather door panel inserts, blue and black leather steering wheel (with two white stripes to indicate the centre point) and a Gordini-badged gear-stick.

The 2010 Renault Twingo Gordini RS goes on sale in France on February 15, 2010.

The Official Renault Press Release:

RENAULT INTRODUCES TWINGO GORDINI R.S.

The return of the Gordini name is to be marked by the introduction of a new chic and sporty version of Renault Sport's pocket rocket which takes a current-day stance on the cues long associated with the Gordini world. Just as it did in the past, the combination of French racing blue, white racing stripes and stylish, quilted-leather upholstery forms an integral part of the package, with a distinctly modern touch.

The latest version of Renault's city car, which will appeal to customers looking for a distinctive vehicle with an assertive character, exudes an unmistakably French feel and stands out as a fitting homage to everything the Gordini signature stands for. Twingo Gordini R.S. is being premiered until January 10, 2010, at the L'Atelier Renault on the Champs-Elysées, in Paris, as part of the prestige showroom's 'Christmas in Blue' exhibition.

It will then go on sale across Europe from March 2010.

Twingo Gordini R.S. features a gleaming Malte Blue lacquered metallic finish, plus two white racing stripes, in keeping with tradition. The front and rear bumpers are enhanced by gloss black details, while the foglamp surrounds, exterior mirror housings and lip spoiler are all picked out in a contrasting white finish.

'Gordini Series' badging either side refers back to the heyday of the Gordini Cup when the qualifying heats of the different meetings were known as séries. This exclusive exterior styling package is rounded off by a choice of either blue or black diamond- effect 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels.

The same Gordini spirit prevails inside, too, thanks to: - Renault Sport seats with extra lateral support, plus blue and black quilted, Gordini-badged leather upholstery, - blue leather door panel inserts, - blue and black leather steeringwheel with two white stripes to indicate the centre point, - blue gearlever bellows and Gordini-badged gearlever knob, - blue rev-counter with white surround, - trimmed dashboard cowl with visible stitching.

LOOKS REDOLENT OF THE WORLD OF SPORT

RENAULT TWINGO GORDINI R.S.: A RENAULT SPORT MODEL FIRST AND FOREMOST

To ensure that it befits Gordini's glorious motor sport heritage, the latest addition to the Twingo range is based on the same performance/equipment package as the Renault Sport version:
- 'Sport' chassis with 17-inch wheels for outstanding road-holding performance that is equally suited to everyday motoring,
- a feisty, responsive 1.6-litre 133hp petrol powerplant with a distinctive, specially-tuned engine pitch under acceleration,
- precise, incisive steering for even greater fun at the wheel, - powerful, durable braking performance.

Twingo continues to enjoy considerable success in the European A-segment, with sales between January and the end of October 2009 amounting to 140,700 cars, an increase of 20 per cent over 2008. With 83,000 cars sold in France (an increase of 53 per cent over 2008), Twingo has emerged as the best-selling small city car for the second year running and accounts for almost one sale in three. The Renault Sport versions of Twingo figure are the segment's best-selling small sporting models and contribute to promoting Twingo's dynamic image.

Twingo Gordini R.S. is expected to win over customers looking for a sporty car with refined, distinctive styling. The newcomer combines the very best that the Twingo line-up has to offer with an indisputable French touch.

In addition to the existing, extensively-equipped Renault Sport version, Twingo Gordini R.S. features:

Facelifted: 2010 Renault Clio

February 9th 2009 22:30
2010 Renault Clio GT

French car maker Renault's bread and butter model, the Clio, has been facelifted just in time for the prestigious Geneva Motor Show next month.

Featuring styling tweaks inspired by other models in the Renault line-up, the Clio, of which only the top-of-the-range RS 197 model is available in this country, has been one of its segment's most reliable models since the early 90s.

2010 Renault Clio GT

In Europe, a new GT version has been added to the new Renault Clio range. Available in an exclusive Malta Blue body colour, its frontal styling is more aggressive and includes a gloss black grille, while the side sills hint at the performance of the GT version's specific suspension. Other cosmetic tweaks includes twin exhaust tailpipes, lip spoiler, drilled aluminium pedal covers and extra side support for the seats, plus GT-badging for the front seats.

Perhaps the biggest innovation of all is Renault's collaboration with leading sat-nav maker TomTom to create a new in-car navigation solution which is easily updateable on the internet, has a large colour screen, and will include traffic and speed limit information, as well as safety camera locations, at a price of less than €500.

The Official Renault Press Release:

NEW RENAULT CLIO
THE NEW BENCHMARK

* New Renault Clio opens a new chapter in the Clio saga which began in 1990 and which has since seen the model go from strength to strength.
* New Renault Clio stands out as a versatile, balanced package which carries over the same qualities that saw Clio III take the 'Car of the Year ' award in 2006, namely benchmark cabin space, safety, comfort and roadholding, as well as the same rigorous build quality that has made it one of its segment's most reliable models.
* Renault's new compact hatchback features:
o renewed styling which incorporates the same dynamic cues as those which have become the hallmarks of New Renault Mégane's front end,
o a new GT version, enabling Renault Clio customers to sample the world of sporty motoring. New Renault Clio GT boasts racy looks and 'fun to drive' handling.
o Carminat TomTom, the first fully integrated and affordable GPS navigation solution. Renault's latest navigation solution has been co-developed with TomTom and will be dual branded. The navigation solution, easily updateable on the internet, has a large colour screen, and will include traffic and speed limit information, as well as safety camera locations, at a price of less than €500.
* The motoring public will get a chance to take a closer look at New Renault Clio at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show.

A compact hatchback which reinforces Clio's family ties with New Renault Mégane

New Renault Clio sits squarely on the road and boasts more streamlined styling, with the lines of the headlamp modules now extending down to the lateral upturns of the front air intake. Indeed, the broad air intake in the lower part of the front bumper sets off the dynamic frontal styling which are also suggested by the presence of gloss black protective mouldings. The revised design of the rear lights prolongs the waist line across the hatch, while the uncluttered approach to the design of the central part of the rear bumper further emphasizes New Renault Clio's dynamic stance. The reversing lights and foglamps are positioned low down and to the extreme right and left of the bumper.

The choice of the new interior trims and equipment was guided by a desire to produce a sense of well-being and perceived quality, and the screen of the Carminat TomTom GPS navigation system is perfectly integrated into the upper part of the centre console.

New Renault Clio GT: an unprecedented version with genuine character

As with other Renault models, a GT version forms part of the New Renault Clio range. The compact and racy New Renault Clio GT hatchback features an exclusive body colour, Malta Blue. Its frontal styling is more aggressive and includes a gloss black grille, while the side sills hint at the performance of the GT version's specific suspension. New Renault Clio GT is easily recognizable from the rear thanks to its twin exhaust tailpipes and lip spoiler.

There are eye-catching sporty details inside the car, too, including drilled aluminium pedal covers and extra side support for the seats, plus GT-badging for the front seats.

Carminat TomTom: the first fully integrated, updatable and affordable navigation solution

Renault's latest GPS navigation solution, Carminat TomTom, is the fruit of the carmaker's partnership with TomTom to bring affordable integrated navigation solutions to Renault customers. Ready to start working from the moment you start the car and particularly easy to use, the solution will give Clio drivers a safe and stress-free driving experience.

Some of the features the Carminat TomTom will have are:

* an easy-to-read 5.8 inch (14.7cm) colour screen (larger than that of removable systems) for the display of detailed birds-eye view maps,
* reliable, updateable navigation complete with traffic, safety camera locations and speed limit information,
* at a price of less than €500.

All the fundamentals of Clio III

New Renault Clio boasts the same qualities that saw Clio III earn the 'Car of the Year ' award in 2006, namely:

* benchmark interior space and comfort,
* acclaimed ride comfort,
* a wide choice of responsive, environmentally friendly engines,
* a range of equipment from the next segment up, including a hands-free card and cruise control with speed limiter,
* outstanding safety credentials,
* the same rigorous build quality that has made it one of the most reliable cars of its segment.
