The HUMMER stand at the Australian Internation Motor Show was unbelievably crowded and you'd be hard pressed to find a busier stand than this one at the show.
Why the excitement? The local launch of the baby HUMMER, the H3, of course!
The HUMMER H3 is the baby of the range - newer, smaller and more civilised than its siblings but don't be fooled by this statement because size-wise, it is still one of the most imposing vehicles on the road today.
Powered by a 3.7-litre in-line five cylinder petrol unit (dubbed Vortec 3700) with dual overhead cams and variable valve timing, the H3 is bestowed with 180kW (5,600rpm) and 328Nm (4,600rpm) using 95RON premium fuel.
Fuel consumption isn't as bad as what most people make it out to be at 13.8 litres/100km for the manual and 14.5-litres/ 100km for the automatic for combined highway and urban cycle.
Three variants of the H3 were confirmed at the show and they are:
- Entry level H3 - $51,990
- Ultimate off-road H3 Adventure - $57,990
- Highly specified H3 Luxury - $59,990
Please excuse the rather poor quality of the images of the H3. As much as we tried forcing/dodging our way through the huge crowds surrounding the H3, we never managed to take a full-length image of the car.
But hey, take our word for it that this car has to be seen in the metal to truly appreciate the size and awesome presence of the baby HUMMER.
