Pagani Zonda Tricolore

March 8th 2010 18:00
Pagani Zonda Tricolore

Making its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the Pagani Zonda Tricolore was created in celebration of the Italian National Aerobatic Team's 50th Anniversary. Known as "Frecce Tricolori" (Ialian for Tricolour Arrows), the squadron was formed in the 1960s and is based at Rivolto Air Force Base, in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, province of Udine.

Boasting a two-seat aircraft - the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN - capable of 898 km/h at sea level amongst its fleet, it is fitting that Italian supercar marque Pagani has released a special edition Zonda - painted in the same livery as the aircraft - to commemorate this special occasion.

The Official Pagani Press Release:

Zonda Tricolore
On the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the "Frecce Tricolori", Pagani Automobili created the Zonda Tricolore as a tribute to the National Aerobatic Team.

In 2010 the aerobatic season of the Frecce Tricolori comes to its 50th anniversary, which will be celebrated on 11th and 12th September at Rivolto Airport (info: www.aeronautica.difesa.it).

The Frecce Tricolori (Italian, literally Tricolour Arrows), officially known as the 313th Aerobatic Training Squadron is the demonstration team of the Italian Air Force, based at Rivolto Air Force Base, in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, province of Udine. They were formed in 1961 as an Air Force team, replacing previous teams that had been sponsored by various commands by the end of the 1920s.

The team flies the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN, a two-seat aircraft capable of 898 km/h at sea level, with nine aircraft and a solo (the highest number of aircraft of any aerobatic team in the world).

The Frecce Tricolori belong to the legacy of the entire Italian community.

Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster

July 6th 2009 19:00
Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster

Ultra exclusive Italian supercar marque, Pagani, has announced a strictly limited production run of just five units for the roadster version of the Zonda Cinque.

Featuring a redesigned carbon-titanium chassis to compensate for the missing roof, the Zonda Cinque Roadster is powered by the same 500 kW Mercedes-built AMG V12 engine found in the Zonda F.

Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster

As you would expect, blistering performance is part and parcel of the new roadster - 0-100 km/h takes 3.4 sec and 0-200 km/h takes just 9.6 seconds while the supercar's braking performance will be enough to force your eyeballs out of their sockets with a 100 km/h to rest brake time of an incredible 2.1 seconds courtesy of mammoth "Brembo brakes in carbo-ceramic self ventilated with hydraulic servo brake".

All 5 Zonda Cinque Roadsters have already been spoken for, but just in case you were wondering, they would have set you back 1.3 milion Euros (plus taxes) a pop.

The Official Pagani Press Release:

Zonda Cinque Roadster

The Pagani roadcar model range would not be complete without a Roadster version of the Zonda Cinque. As the name implies it is created in the Modenese Atelier in a limited production run of merely five exclusive pieces like its coupé sister.

All weight reduction measures adopted by Pagani to improve driving pleasure, performance and emission of the Zonda Cinque have found use in the Cinque Roadster as well. The Carbon-Titanium chassis has been redesigned for the compensation of a missing roof.

The Cinque experience is enhanced with the roof stored in the front bonnet, when the storm of air being fed to the 678hp Mercedes AMG V12 engine through the massive intake just inches over the passengers' ears, accompanies the exhaust note of the bespoke Zonda Cinque Inconel and Titanium exhaust system.

Whether you opt for a relaxed country drive in Tuscany's hills, visiting Florence and other centres of the Italian Renaissance, or a record hunt at the Nürburgring, this 1.3 milion Euro taxes jewel will reward with every day driveability and ultimate performance thanks to the different drive modes of the sequential robostised gearbox and an adjustable suspension setup that feels at home as well at the racetrack as on bumpy roads.

The constant efforts of Horacio Pagani and his team shows once again how art and engineering can be combined in the Zonda Cinque Roadster.
