Porsche 911 Sport Classic

The limited edition Porsche 911 Sport Classic will be making an appearance at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in a fortnight's time to wow genuine Porsche-philes .

Developed by Porsche Exclusive as a side project for over three years, the 911 Sport Classic is based on the Carrera S and boasts a SportDesign front apron with a unique spoiler lip. It also marks the return of the legendary ducktail, a fixed rear spoiler like the one on the legendary 1973 Carrera RS 2.7. A wider rear body up by 44 millimetres gives the limited edition Porsche just that extra bit of 'phat-ness'.

Power comes from Porsche's 3.8-litre engine with Direct Fuel Injection developing 305 kW - a power bump of 17 kW courtesy of a newly developed resonance intake manifold with six vacuum-controlled switching flaps.

A six-speed manual gearbox is the only transmission available while PCCB Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes also come as standard. The PASM sports suspension has lowered the entire car by 20 mm as well as the mechanical rear axle differential and custom-made, deep-dish 19-inch wheels with their rim star painted black.

Only 250 units will be built and available world-wide.

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has refined the DNA of the 911 to what must be the most supreme standard of class and style in the 911 Sport Classic available to a strictly limited number of very special 911 enthusiasts. Creating this unique model, Porsche is bringing back the tradition of exclusive small series built in very small numbers. The 911 Sport Classic will be presented at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and is limited in production to just 250 cars.

This very special 911 from Porsche Exclusive has been developed over a project period of about three years, with lots of love for detail, catering especially for the most demanding group of genuine aficionados. Porsche Exclusive is Porsche's Specialist Department for the most outstanding customised versions of Porsche cars going beyond even the highest standard of the Company's regular production models.

The unique character of this very special 911 comes out at very first sight in the newly developed double-dome roof. A further highlight of this sports car based on the rear-wheel-drive Carrera S is the wider rear body up by 44 millimetres or 1.73" and the wider track on the rear axle. The striking SportDesign front apron with its unique spoiler lip and the rear spoiler fixed in position like the legendary ducktail on the 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 round off the unmistakable look of the 911 Sport Classic. Power comes from Porsche's 3.8-litre with Direct Fuel Injection, increased in this case, also through the introduction of a newly developed resonance intake manifold with six vacuum-controlled switching flaps, by 23 bhp to 408 horsepower for even more outstanding performance.

The 911 Sport Classic comes exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox. PCCB Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes ideally reflecting the sporting character of this exclusive 911, PASM sports suspension lowering the entire car by 20 mm or 0.79", as well as the mechanical rear axle differential and custom-made 19-inch wheels with their rim star painted black all come together to offer a perfect match for the character of this most exclusive car.

The very special, highly sophisticated interior of the 911 Sport Classic bears powerful testimony to one of the core competences of Porsche Exclusive and is characterised by new materials never used before even by Porsche. The dashboard including a wide range of inserts and add-on components is finished in Espresso Nature natural leather, providing a distinctive contrast to the exclusive body paint in Sport Classic Grey.

2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Hot on the heels of the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo which was unveiled less than a fortnight ago, Porsche has released info. and images of the 2010 911 GT3 RS ahead of its grand introduction at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.

2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The uncompromising GT3 RS receives a host of upgrades for the 2010 model year starting with its heart - a 3.8-litre (up from 3.6-litres) engine which redlines at 8500 rpm. Developing 331 kW (450 hp), the 911 GT3 RS has a specific output of more than 87 kW (118 hp) per litre and makes 11 kW more than its 911 GT3 counterpart.

The 911 GT3 RS has never been about outright power alone and its the finer details that makes the RS more dynamic and exclusive than the standard GT3. These include an exclusive six-speed manual gearbox optimised for short gearshift travel, low weight and high efficiency, dynamic engine mounts with stiffness and damping effect for improved handling, an optional lithium-ion battery that weights 10 kg less than a conventional lead-acid battery and a purpose-built and specially set up PASM suspension.

The 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS will make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show between September 17-27.

The Official Porsche Press Release:

Delivering even more engine power, lower weight and shorter transmission ratios, as well as upgraded body and suspension components than all previous GT3s, the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS sets the foundation for homologating the race version of the 911 GT3 and will be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show September 17-27, 2009.

The heart of the new, uncompromising GT3 RS is the power unit. Like the engine featured in the 911 GT3, the naturally-aspirated RS power unit now displaces 3.8 liters and delivers even more power, while revving up even faster to its 8500 rpm redline. It now delivers 450 horsepower, 15 more horsepower than its 911 GT3 counterpart. Even with a specific output of more than 118 hp per liter from the six-cylinder boxer engine, the power unit in the new GT3 RS remains fully suitable for everyday use.

The new 911 GT3 RS comes exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox optimized for short gearshift travel, low weight and high efficiency. To enhance the level of performance throughout the entire range of engine and road speed, the transmission comes with shorter ratios than found in the 911 GT3, deliberately conceding an even higher potential top track speed.

Dynamic engine mounts are standard and serve to improve the car's handling to an even higher level. Depending on driving conditions, the mounts change in their stiffness and damping effect, improving the connection between the engine and the body when driving under very lively conditions, yet allow for more comfortable conditions during everyday street use.

Porsche is also introducing another new option in 2010 for the GT3 RS, a lithium-ion battery. Delivered with the car and, when replacing the conventional lead-acid battery, it reduces the weight by more than 10 kg or 22 lb and is mainly intended for the track.

To further improve its sporting behavior, the new 911 GT3 RS comes with a purpose-built and specially set up PASM suspension, a wider front and rear track and corresponding bodywork.

The front axle comes with nine-inch-wide wheels running on 245/35 ZR 19 sports tires while the rear axle features twelve-inch-wide wheels incorporating 325/30 ZR 19 sports tires.

The new 911 GT3 RS shows its close connection to motorsport through its dynamic looks, in particular by its low ride height, the new, extra large carbon-fiber rear wing and titanium exhaust system.

The 2010 911 GT3 RS goes on sale in the U.S. in early spring of 2010 and will be priced at $132,800.
