Porsche Design Edition 2

If you read the Porsche Cayman S Sport press release, you will have noticed that the German sports car maker also released a second limited production model simultaneously.

Dubbed “Porsche Design Edition 2”, this limited edition model is based on the Boxster S and shares the same 223 kW 3.4-litre boxer engine with its hardtop sibling. The Boxster S Design Edition 2 features a 'Carrara White' production colour - a long time Porsche favourite - three central grey stripes, exclusive 'star-spoke' 19-inch SportDesign alloy wheels and the side air intakes, the centre console and the dials on the three round instruments are also finished in white. The white theme is complemented by the stone grey roof and the black leather interior.

This is the second limited edition of the current generation Boxster after the release of last year's Boxster RS 60 Spyder which has completely sold out.

Production of the Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 is even more exclusive than its hardtop brother with a strictly limited total of just 500 units worldwide - Australian sales are yet to be confirmed.

Porsche Carrera GT crashed

When F1 driver Lewis Hamilton was invited to be a guest on Top Gear's "Star in a reasonably-priced car" segment, he told Jeremy Clarkson that his dad still thinks he [Hamilton Snr] was the better driver.

Perhaps Anthony Hamilton was trying (too hard) to live up to the conception of his own imagination as he stepped in the cockpit of a rare Porsche Carrera GT and proceeded to lose control and spin the car 180 degrees, through a wooden fence and a thick hawthorn hedge before finally coming to a halt in a children’s playground.

Anthony Hamilton crashes Porsche Carrera GT

Oh dear!

For a car which boasts a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.9 seconds and a reputation for snap oversteer, it certainly isn't a car to show-off in for a novice which is apparently what Hamilton Snr did according to witnesses.

"He was revving the engine of the Carrera GT but ended up overrevving it and lost control.”

Last but not least, the car was borrowed! How funny must the phone call to the owner have been then. Sure, his son earns enough dosh to buy a brand new Carrera GT for the owner many times over but sadly, it is no longer in production which means the badly damaged bodywork and undercarriage will have to be repaired.
