Renault Mégane R26.R

The limited edition Mégane R26.R is the last and hottest iteration of the current generation Renault Mégane with a blistering Nurburgring lap time of 8min 17s - the fastest ever time for a front-wheel drive car on the famous racetrack.

Powered by the same 169 kW 2.0-litre turbocharged engine from the Mégane F1 edition, the R26.R's engine is mated to a manual six-speed gearbox with a shorter linkage for even quicker gearshifts. Due to a heavy weight-loss program, the Mégane R26.R weighs a mere 1,230 kg which allows it to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds and to cover the standing start kilometre in a mere 25.9s.

On June 23, 2008, the Renault Mégane R26.R took to the famous Nordschleife circuit of the Nurburgring to record 8min 17s and here's the video of that run.

Twingo Renault Sport

Renault has unveiled their latest hot-hatch alongside the new R28 F1 car and is based on the Twingo that was unveiled last year at the Geneva Motor Show.

Featuring a 1.6-litre engine developing 98 kW (133 hp), the Twingo Renault Sport slots in under the Clio and Mégane Renault Sport in the performance range of the French car maker. Looking unmistakably Renault, the Twingo Renault Sport features the same quirky styling as its sisters - wheels at each corner stance, pumped guards, a high-mounted rear spoiler and a set of 5 double-spoke wheels rounds off the sporty look.

The Official Renault Press Release:

TWINGO RENAULT SPORT
EXPERIENCE THE RENAULT SPORT THRILL

Renault Sport Technologies profited from the international launch of the latest R28 Formula 1 single-seater in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, France, today to take the wraps off Twingo Renault Sport. Renault's new, affordable, high-performance car slots into the Renault Sport range alongside its bigger sister cars, Clio and Mégane Renault Sport.

Twingo Renault Sport R28 F1 Car

Twingo Renault Sport is a genuine hot hatch with looks to match and was designed to deliver both enjoyable roadholding and genuine sports performance. Its efficient, balanced chassis has been mated to a fiery but flexible 133hp engine to form a package that is sure to appeal to all those who seek sporting sensations and driving pleasure during everyday motoring.

Unmistakable sporting credentials

Renault has produced an affordable high-performance car which sits alongside Clio and Mégane Renault Sport in the Renault Sport range. Twingo Renault Sport's compact proportions and incisive, assertive styling are redolent of the Twingo Concept show car
which was unveiled at the 2006 Paris Show. Twingo's existing lines are underpinned by a
more curvaceous, athletic stance and the newcomer's sporty calling is further emphasized
by its wider front and rear wings, profiled sills and spoiler.

Driving pleasure and sporting sensations during everyday motoring Twingo Renault Sport is the response of Renault Sport Technologies' experts to a two-pronged challenge, namely to deliver sports performance while at the same time ensuring that the new car is easy to use on a day-to-day basis. Twingo Renault Sport's chassis is both responsive and finely tuned to provide precise, balanced sports handling, while specific work on the pitch of its new 133hp 1,598cc engine reveals its punchy temperament.

The public will have the opportunity to examine Twingo Renault Sport in further detail at
the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show.
