Australian pricing: 2009 Volvo XC60
January 5th 2009 04:15
The all-new Volvo XC60 SUV will be priced from $57,950 when it goes on sale in Australia in March and will be available in petrol and turbodiesel forms - a competitive price in the hotly contested premium SUV segment for the boldest crossover vehicle yet produced by Volvo.
The technology-packed XC60 is also the safest Volvo ever with its City Safety system designed to bring dramatic reductions in the incidence and severity of urban collisions at speeds up to 30km/h while also capable of detecting the possibility of rear-end collisions at urban speeds (15 km/h).
Customers will have the choice of two engines paired with Volvo's six-speed Geartronic adaptive automatic for the Volvo XC60 - a five-cylinder turbodiesel D5 version producing 136 kW of power and 400 Nm of torque, and a new 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol six-cylinder XC60 T6 developing 210 kW. The XC60 T6 can accelerate from naught to 100km/h in a zippy 7.5 seconds.
Volvo Car Australia's Managing Director, Alan Desselss said: "The new XC60 will further raise the levels of dynamism within the Volvo lineup, as well as introducing what is perhaps the greatest step forward yet in terms of active safety with the new City Safety system,"
"In addition, it will be priced to issue a real challenge in the prestige SUV segment," he added.
