Suzuki Grand Vitara DDiS

The Suzuki Grand Vitara has been awarded the coveted 4X4 Australia Best In Class 2008 prize as Australia’s best compact SUV.

Judges Justin Walker, Philip Lord and Allan Whiting picked the Grand Vitara DDiS (diesel variant) - Australia’s first Japanese-manufactured diesel SUV in the segment - from a huge field including the Nissan X-Trail, Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

The judges noted “the addition of a modern, punchy turbo-diesel engine to Suzuki’s Grand Vitara has been well worth the wait.

“The result is a compact, tough 4x4 with genuine off-road ability….. that works very well on- and off-road, with impressive handling.

“With an asking price of $34,990, the Grand Vitara DDiS is value-packed. Add the excellent donk to the already impressive Grand Vitara standard gear list - six airbags, ABS, vehicle stability program and traction control, to mention a few - and you have a capable, well-built, proven compact 4x4.”

Suzuki Australian General Manager Tony Devers said he was delighted with the Grand Vitara’s win in the prestigious awards.

“This is fantastic recognition for the Suzuki Grand Vitara from some of the most experienced 4x4 judges in the country.

“We were always confident the addition of a turbo-diesel would add even more appeal to the Suzuki compact SUV range with its mix of legendary toughness, Japanese build quality and genuine off-road ability.

“Great product deserves reward, and the Grand Vitara DDiS is a very deserving winner of the title of Australia’s best compact SUV,”
said Devers.

Other features include climate control air-conditioning, MP3 compatible CD stereo and six colour choices - Pearl White, Silky Silver, Azure Grey, Clear Beige, Bluish Black and Shining Red.
