Top Gear Australia hosts announced

The UK Top Gear motoring show with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May has been an international ratings success and now the Australian version of the cult show - with our own hosts - aims to replicate this success on local TV.
After 4,000 DVD applications and months of interviews and screen tests, the Aussies hosts of Top Gear have finally been announced today and they are Charlie Cox, Warren Brown and Steve Pizzati.
Charlie Cox, 47, was a broadcast journalist with a number of Sydney radio stations before moving to England to turn his talents to presenting and commentating motorsport on the BBC. He is a winner of a number of British motor racing titles.
Warren Brown is an award winning cartoonist and regular motoring columnist with The Daily Telegraph. He has his own small collection of historic cars including 1920s fire engines, a WWII jeep, a 1925 Bean motor car and an armoured vehicle.
Steve Pizzati is in his mid-30s and is the youngest member of the cast. His CV includes advanced driving instructor and race driver for Porsche Australia and is part of the International Audi driver training team in Melbourne. He freelances as a motoring journalist and photography stunt driver.
And then there's the Stig, who will remain a mystery, of course.
Adam Waddell, Managing Director of Top Gear for BBC Worldwide said: “A show like Top Gear doesn't resonate with a huge global audience just because people love cars. The world's most entertaining car show's popularity owes much to the relationship between its three presenters. In Charlie, Warren and Steve, Top Gear Australia now has its own team - three guys who possess the spirit of Top Gear whilst having their own distinct personalities. We wish them every success with the new show - they are going to have a great time making it.”
Top Gear Australia will air on SBS in late 2008.

Back to the Eighties
I hope its better than the UK one.
I know everyone loves it, and I don't mind it, but I just feel they don't seem to actually know that much, all they ever talk about is how cool a 'roll royce looka' etc.
Lets get to the real nuts and bolts.

The appeal of Top Gear is a bit like lightning in a bottle, and it mainly boils down to the chemistry between Clarkson and Hammond. They're just flat out funny bastards.
If the aussie team tries to imitate that chemistry, they risk falling flat.

Brad, hopefully they'll have their own, unique chemistry without having to copy the original UK presenters!

Ponderous
If the Aussie version follows the same format while introducing some unique bits and pieces, it should do okay but I don't think it will stop people from tuning into Clarkson and co. by other means.
Thanks for the comments everyone!
