Video presentation: Audi RS6 sedan

August 26th 2008 04:30
Audi RS6 sedan

The 2009 Audi RS6 sedan is one of this year's most highly-anticipated cars and it's not hard to see why - how often would you find a twin-turbo'd V10 engine lurking underneath the bonnet of a sedan? Not very. And certainly not one that makes a staggering 426 kW and 650 Nm of power and torque respectively.

The engine of the new Audi RS6 is a gem of an engine. The 4,991 cc V10 bundles a number of Audi's race-winning technologies, namely, FSI direct fuel injection, dry-sump lubrication and twin turbochargers wound up to 1.6 bar of boost pressure.

In order to put all that power down on the ground, the flagship RS6 sits on a widened track compared to its donor car - the A6 - necessitating the need for the flared wheel arches on the bodywork. Other than that, it's a subtle affair but with just the right amount of styling differentiation to let you know that this is no regular Audi.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here's the latest video presentation of the Audi RS6 sedan. Should you wish to read more about the stonking RS6, you can do so here.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport

The first - chassis no.1 - Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport has been auctioned off for US$2.95 million at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance over the weekend.

As the highly sought after first vehicle - out of 150 only - to roll off the production line, Bugatti had taken the decision to donate this specific car to charity. In the end, it took the winning bidder a staggering $2.95 million to own the first ever Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport - $900,000 more than its original price.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport features a unique removable roof along with the same 8.0-litre, 16-cylinder, double V engine generating 1,001 bhp as its hard-top sibling. It is capable of reaching 100km/h from rest in 2.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 407 km/h (with the roof on). Speeds of up to 360 km/h are still possible with the roof off while the temporary 'umbrella' cloth roof further limits the Veyron’s top speed to 130 km/h.

The winning bidder of chassis no.1 will now be invited to the Bugatti factory to specify his Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport to his/her exact requirements.
