Video: Renault Mégane R26.R laps the Nurburgring
July 23rd 2008 11:15
The limited edition Mégane R26.R is the last and hottest iteration of the current generation Renault Mégane with a blistering Nurburgring lap time of 8min 17s - the fastest ever time for a front-wheel drive car on the famous racetrack.
Powered by the same 169 kW 2.0-litre turbocharged engine from the Mégane F1 edition, the R26.R's engine is mated to a manual six-speed gearbox with a shorter linkage for even quicker gearshifts. Due to a heavy weight-loss program, the Mégane R26.R weighs a mere 1,230 kg which allows it to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds and to cover the standing start kilometre in a mere 25.9s.
On June 23, 2008, the Renault Mégane R26.R took to the famous Nordschleife circuit of the Nurburgring to record 8min 17s and here's the video of that run.
