Ford F-150 Super Bowl commercial

February 5th 2008 10:30
Ford F-150 pickup

In the most outrageous of publicity stunts, Ford USA hooked up an F-150 pick-up to a centrifuge by its two closed front 'looped' tow hooks and spun it around at a force of six Gs in a commercial that aired at the recent Super Bowl.

To demonstrate the benefits of two closed 'looped' tow hooks over the conventional open design, the F-150 was spun at speeds of up to around 97 km/h, thus subjecting the hooks on the pick-up to forces up to six times the vehicle's weight!

No camera tricks or computer enhancements were used in the making of this ad. - now that's TOUGH!
