2007 Volkswagen Passat R36
January 10th 2007 11:00
Say hello to the big brother of Volkswagen's Golf R32: the 2007 Volkswagen Passat R36.
The Passat R36 is set to be most potent "R" model yet - it's nameplate derived from the new 3.6-litre FSI V6 engine developing 300 bhp makes it the not only the fastest Passat but also the fastest estate car (station wagon) Volkswagen has ever produced.
Mated to VW's brilliant six-speed DSG gearbox channeling drive through all four wheels to maximize traction, the Passat R36 sedan and estate sprints from 0-100 km/h in 5.6 and 5.8 seconds respectively.
On top of the engine upgrade, the R36 also gets 18" wheels, lower and stiffer suspension, an all-new body kit with front and rear valances and side skirts, new sport seats with deeper bolsters covered in Alcantara, new turned aluminum dash trim, dual chrome tip exhaust and more.
In proper "R" fashion, the Passat will be offered in the exclusive Pearlescent Deep Blue paint first introduced on the R32 plus the unmistakable design of the matt-finish chrome radiator grille. The aluminium-look double slats on the upper grille and the austerely square grid adorning all the other the air-intake openings are likewise very R-specific.
