2008 Volvo C30

"Bloody Volvo drivers"...
Mention the make amongst motoring enthusiasts and the typical response would be something along the lines of safe, but oh so dull.
Not anymore.
The Volvo C30's muscular and sporty looks is worlds apart from the typical boxy Volvo's we see on our roads today - and with good reason.
Sporting a 2.5L turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine that produces 218hp and 320Nm of torque, the C30 accelerates from rest to 100km/h in roughly 6.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 240km/h.
Not what you'd expect from Volvo, eh?
Not only are the performance figures a surprise, but so is the edgy design of the unique frameless glass tailgate and muscular stance although the distinctive tail lamps ensure that no one will be uncertain about which car they are following.
All this performance hasn't come at the expense of Volvo's renowned safety prowess and it will be available with BLIS (Blind Spot Information System), which helps the driver to identify another vehicle in the blind spot at the rear sides of the car.
Fans of 'ICE' (In-Car Entertainment) will be pleased to hear about the 160-watt stereo system that comes as standard. For those wanting more, the option of a digital 5x130W ICE Power amplifier from Alpine, Dolby Pro Logic II Surround, and 10 loudspeakers from Danish loudspeaker manufacturer Dynaudio is available as an option. Total output for the Premium Sound System is an astonishing 650 watts!!!
So when the C30 finally hits our shores in 2008, the tag-line "bloody Volvo drivers" will be given an ALL new meaning!

Ponderous
There are other hatches out there with greater performance (think VW Golf R32) and funkier looks (2007 Honda Civic Type R), but when you compare the C30 with its Volvo stable-mates, you can't complain really!
